Dr. Elsie Washburn is thrilled to be joining the team at Andover Animal Hospital as an associate veterinarian in June 2025. A native of Andover, MA, Dr. Washburn’s journey in veterinary medicine began right here at Andover Animal Hospital, where she worked as a technician before pursuing her veterinary degree. Her deep roots in the community and early experiences at the hospital helped shape her passion for animal care and her commitment to providing compassionate, high-quality veterinary services.
Dr. Washburn earned her undergraduate degree in biology from California Polytechnic State University in San Luis Obispo. She graduated with her DVM and MSc by research from Ross University School of Veterinary Medicine in Saint Kitts, where she built a strong foundation in both academic and hands-on clinical training. She completed her final, clinical year at the Cummings School of Veterinary Medicine at Tufts University in Grafton, MA in May 2025. At Tufts, she gained valuable experience in a wide range of veterinary disciplines.
Her professional interests include preventative medicine and urgent care, soft tissue surgery, and ophthalmology. Outside of the clinic, Dr. Washburn enjoys reading, baking, and crocheting and is currently learning to surf. She shares her home with a spirited black cat named Salt, who keeps life entertaining. Dr. Washburn is excited to return to the practice where it all began and to care for the pets and families in the community she calls home.
